Kayla has a dilemma…she has to choose whether to fall for Mr. Blue Eyes, the new hire at work, the kelpie surfer with the gorgeous body at the beach, or the too-good-to-be-true neighbor that just moved next door. She knows nothing about any of them except that they are all invading her thoughts night and day. If nothing else, these three dreamboats are a good distraction from all the chaos that is her life at the moment. She is getting daily harassing emails from a new doctor at work, and one of her best friends just left on a six-month mission trip. Now she just has to decide which of these men she should pursue.
Devin finally finished his degree from Vanderbilt as an audiologist and is looking to take his first job somewhere on the coast so he can start surfing again. He knew the second he interviewed with Seaside Hospital on the small island of Hutchinson Island in Florida that he had found his future home and lucked out when the hospital offered him a sublease on a fellow hospital employee’s condo for the next six months.
As he rekindles his love of the waves and the sea, he realizes the only problem in his life is that he is lonely. He is determined to find someone to share his life with but is hesitant because his last girlfriend cheated on him and broke his heart a year ago. He befriends some of his new neighbors through texts, and when they finally meet, things don’t go as planned. The question becomes…is a relationship between Kayla and Devin destined to crash and burn from the start or can they find a balance between gentle ocean swells and breaking waves?

Vivian is a nurse on the verge of burnout. She doesn’t feel like she is making a difference in people’s lives anymore and needs a change. She loves her coworkers, the hospital where she works, the community in which she lives, and she could never imagine leaving her two best friends, Kayla and Sierra, so she feels stuck. Just when all hope seems lost, an opportunity presents itself to take part in a six-month medical mission trip to the Caribbean island of Dominica which a hurricane had recently hit. She jumps at this chance to challenge her nursing skills and regain that sense of self-worth she’s been lacking.
Trent is proud of himself for finally graduating from medical school as a physician’s assistant but knows he doesn’t want to work for his uncle’s clinic as he’s been pressured to do for the last several months. At the same time, he doesn’t want to disappoint the only family he has left since losing his parents in a tragic accident several years ago. He needs more time to make such an important decision as he knows once he accepts his uncle’s offer, there will be no going back. He therefore sees it as a sign when he is offered the opportunity to work in the recently devastated island of Dominica on a medical mission trip. This is his chance to take more time, do some more soul-searching, and discover where his next career step should be.
What neither Vivian nor Trent ever dreamed of when they signed up for this mission trip was to find true love. What happens when the romance has an expiration date? The mission trip was only scheduled to last for six months. What happens when they have to leave their utopian island and return home? Can their love survive long distances? But for how long? More importantly, is their love worth upending their entire lives for, and who is willing to make the move to be near the other? It’s easy to fall in love when you’re secluded in paradise, but what happens in the after storms?

Second chances at love are hard to come by and that’s why Jeremy doesn’t take the gift of finding someone he could spend the rest of his life with for granted. It may be happening too fast for most, but he knows love when he feels it and doesn’t want to lose this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with Sierra. But he’s torn between the life he used to live and the life he wants, and he has secrets that he needs to reveal if he is ever going to get the future he wants with her.
Sierra sees her two best friends blissfully married and starting families and she wants what they have too. Despite her dreams of finding someone to share her life with, she is not out seeking a man as she has enough on her shoulders to carry at the moment. But when the perfect guy just walks into her life unexpectedly, she can’t ignore him or the chance at love.
Falling in love can be hard work and everyone has their breaking point. Some secrets are too hard to forgive or are told too late. Sometimes circumstances beyond our control interrupt the natural flow of a budding relationship. When the waves eventually come crashing ashore, decisions must be made. Is it time for Sierra and Jeremy to just give up or is it worth it to wait for the turning tides?
