A Faithful Journey

Every era has events that forever leave their mark. World history books remember the early 1600s in England as a time of great religious upheaval which led to the Puritan Migration to the New World. American history books remember this time as the beginning of our new nation. A Faithful Journey is the story of one such early immigrant and his pilgrimage in seeking freedom from religious persecution during these dangerous times.
The story begins with a young John Compton learning what it is to be a Puritan and the consequences that come with it in early 1600s England. His decision to leave his family for more prosperous opportunities led him to lessons in faith, patience, and perseverance. When his expedition takes him to a place where he feels alone and without hope, he learns what it is to put trust in God and takes the voyage across the ocean to an unknown future. Come and travel back in time to discover the strength and endurance one of America’s first Puritan immigrants, John Compton, possessed as he made a faithful journey.
A Hopeful Journey

A Hopeful Journey begins in the year 1719 with a father telling his children the story of their grandfather, John Compton Jr. He shares with them the struggles and celebrations of their family and how their beliefs in God’s word helped them through all their successes and failures.
The story then flashes back to 1653 where John reveals his story of his constant battle to make many difficult decisions throughout his life. Whether to leave his home country and venture across the sea with only hope and faith to lead him to a potential prosperous future. Later, he grapples with the decision to leave the promise of wealth and a prominent position in the family business he will one day inherit in order to uphold his moral and religious beliefs.
The struggles continue as he tries to find the strength and perseverance to fight for land that he rightfully owns, and the courage to begin a new and unknown life there. He then must combat loneliness as he waits upon the Lord to bless him with a wife and family, and enduring heartache and loss repeatedly while trying to hold fast to his faith as one tragedy after another befalls him. This is the story of one man’s life during difficult times in the infancy of a new nation and how he used his faith to guide his hopeful journey.
A Grateful Journey

A Grateful Journey continues the Journey Series with the Compton family from 1611 to 1747. It is the story of Matthew Compton, son of John Compton Jr., and grandson to John Compton, the immigrating ancestor of the family, and how the traditions of strength and perseverance continue from generation to generation.
Matthew Compton honors his father and grandfather throughout his life for the sacrifices they made to courageously relocate to create better lives for themselves and their family. However, he does not feel as if his life holds the same merit and worth. He lives a simple life on the land he inherited from his father, becoming a cooper, a husband, and a father while trying to plant roots for future generations.
Just as his father and grandfather endured struggles, Matthew’s life was not without tragedy, loss, and setbacks. Throughout much of his life, he contemplates the issues of the time and shares his worries and concerns for the future of this place he calls home. Yet, despite all the turmoil surrounding him, he continues to have faith that God will guide his path and help him to live as a righteous Christian. This is the story of one man’s life and how he comes to discover that living a life of faith and hope will guide you in having a grateful journey.
